Customer Letters
Here is a collection of customer letters we have received over the years:

Dear Paul,
To often in this world we're willing rto write a letter complaining about a negative experience. However, we never find time to say thanks for a good job. With that being said we often fail to congratulate one another for a job well done. I have been an Action Craft owner since 10/01 and have had the opportunity to work with your fine folks on a number of occasions, including purchasing promotional items and most recently to swap my prop for an upgraded one.
From your receptionist to your customer service personell and Ron Horton who I met at the Miami Show, your folks are simply great to work with and of course extremely knowledgeable about your product. I just spoke with your customer service manager to confirm receipt of the new prop and to say thanks again. If at any time Action Craft needs a recommendation from an owner, please do not hesitate to give them my name, phone number, e-mail address, etc.
Thank you for a job well done and for manufacturing such an excellent product. Keep up the good work!

Dear Mr. Guard,
I recently received a letter from you welcoming my purchase of an Action Craft Flats boat. I appreciated the letter.
It is the first boat that I ever owned and I purchased it for fishing in the Sarasota area. I am really enjoying using it and even though I live in the Chicago area in the summer time, I plan to return to Sarasota at least once a month during the warm months in order to take advantage of the fishing that the area has to offer.
Again, thanks for the opportunity of using your product.
Very Truly Yours,
A.K. Gidwitz

Paul,
Just wanted to say thanks to you and your staff for the excellent treatment
during my recent visit to the plant. Your customer service staff took very good
care of me, fixing my minor blemishes perfectly. I really appreciated their
help.
I absolutely love my boat, as do all my friends and clients. I’m always
bragging on the ride, performance, etc. and you’ll see the proof in the
October issue of Salt Water Sportsman. Thanks again for the help and a fine
craft!
Best regards,
Capt. Dave

Dear Paul,
I have been delighted with my model 1890 Action Craft since I purchased it from your Fort Myers dealer a little over 2 years ago. However, an episode that happened to me in the Keys this summer made me an even greater supporter of your boats. Let me explain in some detail.
During tropical depression “Barry” in late July my boat was moored in Marathon, Florida Keys during one of the particularly heavy rainstorms associated with the storm. Unfortunately my mooring location left a lot to be desired during this downpour and water from the parking lot cascaded over the dock and directly into the cockpit of my boat. It was quickly overwhelmed since the water was entering the boat at about 1,000 gallons/minute from my best estimate.
My family and I were in our room at the time and one of the guests at the resort came running and told us “your boat is sinking”! My son and I ran and found the top of the boats gunnels under water at the stern with the flood into the cockpit at the above-mentioned volume. We cut the stern lines which then allowed the boats floatation to raise it to where I could begin bailing the cockpit with a bucket after I had put the drain plugs in the side.
Everything in the rear bilge of the boat was underwater including the cranking battery, engine oil reservoir, hydraulic trim tab reservoir, battery switch and livewell pumps. The second battery installed in the center console was not submerged nor were any of the electrical connections.
As we got the water out of the cockpit we noticed that the bilge pump was operating and, after a while it gradually pumped out the rest of the boat. The engine had been tilted up and although the front section of the motor was partially submerged, it started immediately and ran normally. When we pulled the boat we found that the seal in the hood had not allowed one drop of water into the engine area!
Our dealer checked out the boat when we got home and found only a small amount of water in the engine oil in the main reservoir, some in the reservoir in the side of the engine and a small amount of water in the hydraulic oil of the trim tabs reservoir.
Since the bilge had been flooded with only fresh rain water we escaped a major catastrophe. Without the floatation you designed into your boats my boat would have been on the bottom. Instead it was level, although a wash, and we were able to salvage it with a minimum of time, effort and money.
THANKS!
Rod Roan

I bought an Action Craft from one of your Florida Keys dealers in 1997. They
installed a 135hp and the basics required for a back country boat.
It was probably the nicest small boat I ever owned and operated. When I sold
my home on Lower Matacumbe in June of 2000, the new buyer made me an offer for
the boat at what it cost me new!
I still regret selling it!
It gave me hours of enjoyment and some of the best light tackle fishing I’ve ever had. If I ever get another one, I’ll let them “bury” me in it before I sell it!
Thanks for a fine boat,
P. E. C.

I would like to take this opportunity to inform you of th excellent service that I recently received from one of your dealers in Riviera Beach. The repair was to some gelcoat on one of the lap strakes. I contacted the dealer after speaking with you and determining that they were the closest Action Craft dealer to my location. To my pleasant surprise I was informed that you had already contacted them to let them know that I would be calling them regarding my repair. I would like to take this opportunity to also compliment you on your customer service in facilitating my repair. This may be routine service for Action Craft however it is greatly appreciated by a satisfied owner.
Sincerely,

Dear Mr. Guard,
I would liketo take this time to tell you my Action Craft story. My first trip to the Keys was in 1973 and I have returned as often as time has allowed. Even my honeymoon in 1977 was spent in Islamorada.
But leaving the Keys in 1986 I noticed my first Action Craft sitting at a dealership on the bayside. It was blue and white and as soon as I climbed in it, it was like my first sunset in the Keys - unforgettable!
The wide walk-around gunnels, the live wells, rod storage and yes that high performance hull got my attention too, the boat looked perfect in everyway. I still have the brochure.
At the time I had a 3 year old daughter and a baby on the way. No way could I afford a new boat at that time. At that time I fished out of a John boat that I had customized myself. When I fished out of Flamingo the flatsboats would pass me like I was tied to a tree. All I could do was dream and wait.
Yes, I have dreamed of this boat for 14 years.
I saw a Coastline in 1997, I really liked the bigger cockpit. Now that my babies are 17 and 13 I need more room.
When I went to see your dealer, I knew exactly what I wanted, an 18' Coastline with a 125 Mercury. As of this letter, I have had the boat in the water 10 times and it performs better every time I go out. I can't believe that boat is drier than my 20' Mako was. This is the best driving boat I've ever been in.
Thank you for not changing your dream on building the best flats boat and for my dream come true. I am at your disposal for any further questions or information you may need.
Keep up the good work!
Sincerely,
Bob Osteen

Dear Mr. Guard,
It is with great pleasure that I write this letter concerning Ron Horton, who recently conducted a tour of your Action Craft factory for my two teenage sons and myself.
We originally met Ron at both the Shallow Water Fishing Expo in Orlando and at Frank Sergeants show in Tampa when he introduced us to the Action Craft line and encouraged us to visit the factory.
I was highly impressed not only of Ron's detailed knowledge of the manufacturing but of the history of the company too. I understand he has worked for you for 17 years. In today's world, that is a rare occurrence.
Being involved in business myself, I well understand how paramount it is to employ and retain highly competent and dedicated people. Having people the caliber and personality of Ron Horton on your team makes both Action Craft and me, the consumer, a winner.
Thank you very much,
Clark Wright, D.M.D., P.A.
P.S. I originally had my mind set on a Coastline model, but after learning from Ron the many details of the boats, I upgraded to a 1622 Action Craft. Thank Ron for this pleasurable experience.

Dear Paul,
As a serious fisherman / flyfisherman and “flats boat specialist”
(after way too many boat shows and years of research) Action Craft / Coastline
boats were my answer. I needed a safe boat, one that my wife and I could ride
“in” instead of “on”. The stability and fishability
are unsurpassed. The little things that most boat buyers overlook like backrests,
grab rails, platform toe rails, bow toe rails for fly control, and a hull that
even out performed my own expectations make the difference between a so-so day
on the water and a great day on the water.
Thank you for all the enjoyment I’ve had and thanks to you and your staff
for building such a wonderful product.
Sincerely,
John Schoenfeld

Dear Mr. Guard,
I appreciate you letter in recognition of my purchase of an Action Craft boat. I am delighted and proud of the quality of the Flats Master and was especially pleased to find that a boat, which provides a superb platform for shallow water fishing, can also provide a smooth ride in choppy water. I am also very pleased with my dealer for the help provided in my selection of the boat and for the helpful service since.
Sincerely,
Forest Thibideau

Just thought that I would drop you a line and let you know tha t my wife and I had the pleasure of fishing from one of your boats. The guides name was Simon and the area was Andros Island in the Bahamas. He was very proud of his Action Craft and I am now looking forward to owning one myself. The ride was dry and relaxing. Simon was very knowledgeable about his boat and the bonefish. My wife and I had a great time. Thank you for producing such an awesome boat.

Recently I had my 2020 Action Craft down at your facility in Cape Coral. The work to be done was relatively minor. The purpose of this note is to let you know how well I was treated and, even though the work was minor, the gang at Action Craft took the work very seriously.
Please say thanks to your crew for not only being courteous and obviously customer oriented in their approach to the work but also for the quality of the work performed. It was first class.
Thanks again and you certainly have a satisfied Action Craft owner.
Sincerely,
Gene Kingery

We have just had a chance to write you about the Coastline 1802TE that we recently purchased. The boat has met and exceeded all our expectations. The ride is superb in rough water and the bench seat makes the boat comfortable and functional. The hull design and the bench seat were the features that helped to make our decision to purchase the boat. The hull poles easily and tracks straight in teh wind making fishing the flats a great experience. We have explored many areas in the Indian River, Banana River, and Mosquito Lagoon that we could not reach in any of our previous boats. Last weekend we fished the buoy line outside Canaveral for Cobia and were very satisfied at the way the boat handled the ocean. The thing that really impressed us about the boat is the obvious care that was demonstrated in the building and rigging of the boat, everyone that has seen the boat has commented on the finish. Even though Coastline is more affordable, quality was not sacrificed. Thanks again and we will see you all at the owners tournament.
Sincerely,
Alex & Tammy Gorichky

I just wanted to take a moment and say thank you for a great product. I bought my new Action Craft 16 flats boat a few months ago. From the first ride I knew this boat was special. This was the third shallow water boat I had owned and although I am by no means an expert, I know what I want and need in a boat. This boat has simply surpassed all expectations. Speaking of surpassed expectations, the selling dealer and Evenrude V-4 90 have also been above all expectations. I look forward to seeing you at the tournament.
Thanks again,

Paul,
Thanks for the use of your Coastline 2000. The Fox crew was really impressed by the Action Craft quality and dependability and everything else it can do. I was impressed by how easily the 2000 poled. But I have to say that I'm glad we fished the Tomoka River on Wednesday. I was starting to get altitude sickness from the poling platform.
The session went very well. We fished Mosquito Lagoon with Rich Biddle on Tuesday and Tomoka River with Sterling Marlin. Both are racing in the Pepsi 400 on Saturday. The video and show will air in September. Our Action Craft were polished like highly praised racing cars and they looked great for Suzuki Outdoors On The Pole.
The producer of the show definitely want Action Craft in the next series that they do. So it's time to get some national coverage. One of the camera crew guys wants to get an 1890 for use on a large lake in northern Georgia. The Action Crafts will steal this show, and we couldn't have done it without your help and support.
I am very grateful for your generosity. I received my hat and shirts in time to wear them on Tuesday and Wednesday. Everyone had a blast fishing. The weather cooperated fine and held off with showers and thunderstorms.
Thanks for everything, and we are happy to give any assistance in making On The Pole work for Action Craft. Let us know what else we can to.

I am writing to you how pleased I am with my decision to purchase an 1890 Special
Edition Action Craft. I just landed my first tarpon weighing in at 120 pounds
in 1 hour and 48 minutes. I couldn’t be more pleased with the boat’s
comfort and ease of handling. I particularly want to mention that your dealer
was also most helpful in outfitting my Action Craft to provide top performance.
I consider myself most fortunate to have gone fishing one day with one of your
guides on his Action Craft. It made my decision to buy one much easier.
I am looking forward to many hours of fishing pleasure in my new Action Craft.

To whom it may concern,
We are very pleased with our new Action Craft. So far we have enjoyed it in the back waters off the Keys. I would like to take this opportunity to mention your dealer in the Keys where we purchased our skiff. They were very accommodating to us and knowledgeable with the Action Craft product.
Sincerely,

Dear Mr. Guard,
I received your recent letter in connection with my recent purchase of a Coastline
2000 boat. I want to give you my impression of the boat now that I have had
it out a few times.
I fish the bays around the Rockport, Texas area. In this area we often have
to cross a fairly large bay and as you can imagine this bay is often rough,
but most of my fishing is done in very shallow water, and usually by wading.
Therefore, I was interested in a boat that could handle the rough water without
beating me to death and y et would be able to run shallow and also get up in
shallow water. The Coastline 2000 has proven most capable in both areas and
I am very pleased with the performance of the boat. Also, the fit and finish
of the boat is just great and fully meets my expectations.
Since I plan to run a lot in shallow water my boat is fitted with a jack plate.
This boat just jumps up on a plane with almost no bow rise – exactly what
I had in mind!
I have not been a fly fisherman, but I plan to give it a try with this boat.
Very truly yours,
A.D. Patton

I would like to thank you for your superior boat design. Recently I was caught fishing in Matlacha, when around midnight the wind, due to a cold front, had blown all the water off the flats. On our return home, we ran close to a mile until we felt that we should not drag bottom any longer because it was damaging our skid. When we came off plane we stepped out of the boat to find that it was only about 4 inches of deep. We had ran all that way in only 4 inches of water. Unfortunately our tilt and trim was broken so our motor layed submerged in the ground. But after the tide had came in a couple of inches we were able to be on our way.

Hello Paul,
I just wanted to let you know that I am really enjoying my new 1820 Action Craft. I liked my 1810, but there is a noticeable improvement in the ride of the 1820 in a chop. I have a regular customer that fishes with me every Tuesday and he also notices the difference and frequently comments on the quality of the boat. The wider gunnels, increased storage and extra deck space make fishing out of the boat easy. I poles well and seems to float in about the same amount of water as the 1810. The 115hp Johnson Ocean Runner engine performs beautifully on the 1820. It may be slightly slower our of the hole but it is still 40+ mph fully loaded with 3 adults. I want to thank you for your help with the pricing. Also, your marketing director was very helpful. Most of all, Ron and the customer service department do an excellent job. No matter what comes along, they just smile and handle it. Ron followed up with me along the way and followed up after the additional rigging to be sure I was happy. Please thank them for me as well. Your dealer has gone out of his way to be sure that I was happy. I appreciate the support from everyone. As a guide it is not only the quality of your boats, it is the Action Craft team that makes the difference. If you ever want to go fishing or need me to take anyone else out, please let me know.
Sincerely,

Dear Mr. Guard,
Allow me to take a moment of your time to tell you how I became a very enthusiastic owner of an Action Craft Model 1600TE.
My decision to purchase a flats fishing boat came as a result of the C.C.A. Fishing Tournament this past July, August and September. My son finished in Seventh Place in the Redfish adult division and my grandson finished in Seventh Place in the Redfish juvenile division. They fished in an open 14' skiff with a 25hp outboard. Their poling platform was an old ice chest. Bait wells were round bait buckets with battery operated aerators. My son landed a 47 ½" Red to qualify in the Top Ten for the fish off day. On his fish off day he caught 8 Reds from 35 to 44 inches, none large enough to win the grand prize - a flats boat.
In September after the Tournament I felt I had to do something for these fine young men, to improve that ice chest platform rig.
I called six flats boat manufacturers, requesting brochures, I then began visiting a number of boat dealers in central Florida. On Saturday Sept. 27th I had an appointment with your dealer in Edgewater. When he began showing me the features of the Action Craft Boats I knew I had found the right person and the right dealership. I would mention a feature that I would like to have on a flats boat and he amazed me on each request with his knowledge of what should be done and how to do it. Nothing unnecessary and all beneficial.
When I drove home with that Coastline 1600 on October 18th and gave it to my son, it brought tears to everyone's eyes.
Mr. Guard, I thank you and Action Craft for manufacturing such a beautiful seaworthy craft. My sincerest appreciation and thank you go to your dealer for his recommendations, his patience and above all, his knowledge!
Sincerely,

Dear Mr. Guard,
Just a note to say how impressed we are with your boat and how we have enjoyed the performance of a great piece of equipment. I am requesting another order form for your promotional products as we really like them. I hope you are a Gator fan and/or Tampa Bay Devil Ray fan as I work for these organizations. Please send the forms quickly as I am leaving for baseball the 1st of May.

On behalf of the most fortunate eleven fly fishermen of our club thank you for giving us so much time and attention throughout the visit to your works last Thursday. Among the comments I picked up were "professional, attention to detail, care, a beautiful design", the result of which is that I think you now have eleven ambassadors for your Action Craft products. We have found the video to be most helpful in thrusting home the features that you emphasized and I personally have already shown it to several friends.
On reflection the visit was put into perspective by firstly touring one of your dealerships and observing the qualities that they were expounding about your boats and secondly this enabled us to appreciate more so the points you and your colleagues were advocating as we worked through the tour.
You are rightly proud of a fine product, well made. We look forward to a return visit. Thank you once again.
Yours Sincerely,
John Marks

Paul,
I hope this note finds you in the best of body and mind. I trust your trip to the Keys was a success and restful. Your tremendous effort to get my butt in an Action Craft has impressed me to say the very least. This will be an interesting working relationship I'm sure.
Thanks and take care,

Hello Paul,
Thanks very much for the work you had done on my boat last week. It is a pleasure to be a part of the Action Craft Team. Ron Horton does a great job. It is a real advantage to have support for the guides at the factory level. Please let me know if there is anything that I can do for Action Craft. I have been talking with a guide friend of mine about the possibility of him getting into an Action Craft. I believe that he has already spoken with your marketing director. I hope he makes the switch to Action Craft. Thanks again and I'll talk to you soon.

While reading the June 1994 issue of Florida Sportsman, I happened across your advertisement. I have always been a fan of your flats skiffs, and I have marveled at the commitment that you show to the customer (through your warrantee, selection of options, etc.). But now I have even one more reason to applaud you--your co-sponsorship of the RedBone Celebrity Tournament which is dedicated to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis.
The reason I'm so excited about your support of this tournament is that I have cystic fibrosis. I was diagnosed when I was six-months old, and have always appreciated independent business sponsorships of events geared to raise money for CF. I am now twenty-two years old, and am a student at the University of South Florida. However, I am also the manager of Sporting Classics, the Orvis fly-fishing store in Tampa. As a result of my heavy involvement in the sport of fly-fishing (I also teach a one day comprehensive fly-fishing school each month), I come in contact with a great number of people who are in the market for a flats skiff. I've always had plenty of reasons to recommend Action Craft, and your commitment to finding a cure for CF is one more.
Thank you again for your co-sponsorship of the RedBone tournament. Good luck in all of your endeavors!

The Fort Myers Chapter's Eighth Annual Banquet and Auction to benefit the Florida Conservation Association was held March 11, 1993 and once again the event was a great success. Our attendance was 400 people. More importantly, everyone had an enjoyable evening and the funds we raised are already being used to improve sport fishing throughout Florida.
None of these results would have been possible without your generous contribution. You have our sincere thanks for that donation. It showed a real commitment to helping conserve Florida's marine resources.
Once again, thank you for having helped made it all possible.
